On TuesdayAugust 13supthsup at 2123 hours the Huntington Manor Fire Department wasactivated for a structure fire at 92 Columbia Street in Huntington Station.While en route the manor dispatcher advised the chiefs he was receivingnumerous phone calls for this address. 3suprdsup Assistant Chief JonHoffmann arrived and transmitted the 35 with heavy fire out theexposure 3 side of a 2 story private dwelling. Under the command of Chief ofDepartment Fred Steenson Jr. an aggressive interior attack wasstarted. The crew from first due Engine 2-4-3 stretched a 1 line to the frontdoor. 1supstsup due ladder 2-4-8 set up their ladder and started ventingthe building and searching for any occupants that might have been in the house.Crews from 2supndsup due engine 2-4-9 stretched a 2supndsup line toback up Engine 3s line. The fire was quickly knocked down and all searcheswere negative. The Huntington Fire Department was on scene for rapidintervention along with Huntington Community First Aid Squad who provided arescue stand by. Greenlawn Fire Department stood by at Manors HQ. The Town ofHuntington Fire Marshall and Suffolk Police Arson Squad were requested torespond to determine the cause of the fire but it was believed to beaccidental. span stylemso-spacerun yesnbspspanA total of 60 firefighterswith 3 engines 2 ladders 1 heavy rescue and fire police responded to the blaze.All units were back in service by 2300 hours.
