Thursday, March 7th at 3:05 P.M. Huntington Manor firefighters were dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire at a home on Manetto Hill Road. Upon his arrival, 1st Assistant Chief Chuck Brady advised dispatch he had a heavy smoke condition and to retransmit for a working fire. Firefighters from Engine 3 stretched a hose line to attack the fire inside while firefighters from Ladder 8 searched for any possible victims and provided ventilation for the interior firefighters. The fire was quickly knocked down limiting the damage to the structure. We were assisted at the scene by Melville, Huntington, Greenlawn and Plainview Fire Departments and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad provided a rescue standby while firefighters from the Halesite Fire Department stood by at our Headquarters. Chief of Department Jon Hoffman was in charge of the scene assisted by Assistant Chiefs Brady, Glidden and Christen. Town of Huntington Fire Marshal was also on scene to determine the cause of the fire which was not considered suspicious.
