May 26th Signal 13/35

 May 26, 2020

At 01:33 hours on Tuesday, Huntington Manor firefighters responded to a reported structure fire with occupants trapped at 1344 New York Ave in Huntington Station. Chief Jon Hoffmann was first to arrive and found a two story mixed use building with heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor apartments. Five occupants were removed from the building by Suffolk County Police Officers prior to fire department arrival. The Huntington Community First Aid Squad transported the five residents to Huntington Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. We were assisted at the scene by the Huntington and Greenlawn Fire Departments. Chief Jon Hoffmann was incident commander assisted by Chiefs Brady, Glidden and Christian. A preliminary investigation determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
