Saturday morning, Huntington Manor firefighters responded to Armell Street for a reported structure fire. On arrival units found a 1 story house with heavy fire showing from the front. Firefighters from Quint 6 assisted by firefighters from Quint 8 and Engine 3 stretched 2 hose lines and made an aggressive attack on the fire. Two occupants of the home were transported to Huntington Hospital for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation. Despite best efforts of fire firefighters, two family pets perished in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation but not considered to be suspicious at this time. We would like to thank the Melville and Huntington fire departments for assistance at the scene along with Huntington Community First Aid Squad and Greenlawn Fire Department for medical standbys. Firefighters from Halesite Fire stood by at our Headquarters. 3rd Assistant Chief Brian Christen was Incident Commander.
